Never check into a hotel late at night. If you do, you will get stupped. The next morning you'll wake up in front of a major construction site. And, this particular morning in New York, with only a view of a small inner well within this large hotel. The well-space functioned as an echo chamber for the construction site beyond. The floor was a smoking floor, and a violin player was practicing nearby when I came back from the lobby to carry my luggage to another room (which wasn't bad, actually, but after an hour or two might have loosened its appeal). Boston, Seattle & now New York, all for week long stays, all with late night check-ins, all with construction sites opposite.
Lunch with Karen Durbin, my NY friend since 1978, at 9th. & 21st. followed by cake & coffee with Tony Geballe at the Lanterna on McDougal, an Italian pumperie.
Now, back with a borrowed Les Paul from Pietro, groceries & a dribbling psyche.
